Overview
The Colorado Funeral Directors Association (CFDA) invites proposals for educational sessions at our 2026 Annual Convention in Loveland, Colorado. This annual event gathers funeral directors, embalmers, crematory operators, students, suppliers, and allied professionals from across the state for three days of continuing education, networking, and professional growth.
We are seeking engaging presenters who can share expertise, demonstrate best practices, and inspire innovation across all aspects of funeral service.
Suggested Topic Areas
Based on CFDA’s 2025 post-convention survey, members expressed interest in a wide range of continuing education topics for 2026, including:
Professional Practice & Technical Skills — sessions that strengthen core skills such as embalming and restorative arts, and cremation operations.
Regulatory & Legal Compliance — updates and guidance related to DORA regulations, FTC compliance, ethical standards, and other evolving legal responsibilities within funeral service.
Business Development & Workforce — strategies for attracting and retaining qualified professionals, improving consumer satisfaction, and adapting to business challenges and staffing needs.
Innovation & Emerging Trends — exploration of new disposition methods, technological advances, social media engagement, and the changing expectations of families and communities.
Presenters are encouraged to propose interactive and practical sessions that help attendees enhance their professional effectiveness and return to their firms with new ideas and applicable skills.
Session Details
· Session Length: 50–60 minutes (90-minute sessions considered for in-depth topics)
· Format: Lecture, panel discussion, or workshop
· Audience: Funeral professionals, apprentices, students, and suppliers
· CE Credit: Presentations should meet DORA’s continuing-education requirements for Colorado licensees. CFDA will assist with documentation and submission.
Submission Guidelines
Please include the following with your proposal:
1. Presentation Title and Summary (150–200 words)
2. Learning Objectives (3–5 measurable outcomes)
3. Presenter Bio (100–150 words)
4. Contact Information (email, phone, organization)
5. Preferred Session Format and Duration
6. Audio/Visual or Room Setup Needs
7. Include your speaker fee or honorarium expectations (if any) as part of your proposal.
Timeline
· Proposal Deadline: December 31, 2025
· Notification of Acceptance: February 15, 2026
· Final Presentation Materials (PowerPoint and handouts for review and approval) Due: July 15, 2026
