The CFDA Board of Directors is planning a full schedule of education offerings this year. The 2016 calendar includes:
District Meetings around the state are on tap for the spring and fall this year. These afternoon/evening sessions include 2-3 hours of CE credit and informal networking with funeral service professionals. There is no registration fee for employees of CFDA Member firms; a nominal fee will be assessed for non-members. Watch for announcements and RSVP in advance to reserve your spot.
CFDA is confirmed to host the NFDA Certified Crematory Operator Program (CCO) on Thursday, June 9, 2016, in the Denver metro area. The day-long program will be presented by NFDA’s Vice President of Cremation Services Mike Nicodemis. Whether you currently own or operate a crematory, are thinking of opening one, or want to evaluate a third-party crematory, this training is necessary for your success. Protect your firm through cremation due diligence practices and provide your families with the best cremation service possible. Registration information will be available soon.
With increasing costs and declining attendance at its annual convention, CFDA has decided to partner with the Wyoming Funeral Directors Association to hold a Colorado & Wyoming Combined Convention, October 8-11, 2016, at the Saratoga Resort & Spa in Saratoga, Wyoming. The rustic resort features hot springs pools, hot tubs, spa, and a brewery. Future plans include CFDA hosting a 2017 Combined Convention with the WYFDA and Colorado Association of Cemeteries in Colorado.
CFDA’s Annual Meeting is tentatively slated for November 2016 and will include an education seminar along with the corporate business meeting and elections.
CFDA is also developing a new program on Colorado Funeral Service Laws to be launched later this year. The program will be a primer on the basics of Colorado mortuary science laws, standards and registration, cremation and preneed regulations. This class is a must for new employees and a refresher for the experienced funeral service personnel.
Watch for announcements from CFDA about dates and locations for these and other programs during the 2016 calendar year.
